What's In Season: Goldenrod (Solidago) ๐
Missouri has 23 native species of these bright yellow wildflowers. They thrive in sunny spots such as prairies, fields, roadsides, and more. Goldenrods bloom from late June into December, offering food for pollinators and seeds for birds.
Even though many people blame them for fall allergies, goldenrods are actually great for wildlife and have been used in folk herbal remedies to treat cough, allergies, cold, and itchy/sore throats. Plus, rubber can even be made from their sap!
Keep an eye out for their golden glow along Missouri roadsides this fall. ๐พ๐
