Why does Lake County Fire Protection District coordinate pre-positioned task forces during significant weather events? This is why. 🚒
Today, engines from Hopland Fire Protection District, Anderson Valley Fire Protection District, Mendocino Fire Protection District, Redwood Coast Fire Protection District, Northshore Fire Protection District, South Lake Fire Protection District, and Thomen Little Lake Fire Protection District were staged at Station 70 in Clearlake and immediately available to respond to the in Lower Lake.
Lake County Fire Protection District coordinates pre-positioned task forces during Red Flag Warnings, Fire Weather Watches, severe storms, and winter wind events. These task forces are funded through Cal OES and provide additional resources that can respond immediately when emergencies occur.
Over the past several years, many Lake County residents have seen engines from neighboring counties and districts staged at Station 70. These resources have responded to countless incidents throughout the County, assisting with initial attack, structure defense, and other critical firefighting operations.
Today is another example of why pre-positioning resources matters. Through the coordinated efforts of CAL FIRE LNU, Lake County Fire Protection District, and Task Force 2150 Charlie, forward progress of the Baker Fire was stopped at 5.4 acres.
Thank you to our neighboring counties and fire districts for their continued partnership and commitment to protecting Lake County communities.
