MOMMA TRIED TO WARN HIM: Before federal agents busted 34-year-old Dominique Bowden with 22 kilos of narcotics in Florida, his mother apparently told him he needs to quit selling dr*gs.
U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe said the case was opened this past April, with Riverview-based accused d*pe peddler Bowden getting hemmed up via evidence obtained through wiretaps, cameras, and street surveillance tracking the sales he allegedly set up by phone.
Kehoe said, "People would call, purchase narcotics, come to the car, and the transactions were made.”
Those meets ran through Tampa-area gas stations and a Publix lot in Bloomingdale. He also used rental cars, and investigators say he was doing as many as 10 deals a day out of his mother's house.⠀
On an earlier traffic stop he ran from deputies and stashed a vehicle at his sister's house, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Warrants hit both houses on Sept. 23. At his Riverview home, agents listed 226 grams of fent@nyl, 6.9 pounds of mariju@na, 1.3 grams of coc*ine, 4 grams of oxyc*done, and 11 handg*ns.⠀
His mother's Tampa house held the bulk of it. Agents reported 3 kilograms of fent@nyl, 13 kilograms of m*thamphetamine, and more than 6.4 kilograms of coc*ine.
That same house also had 5.4 grams of mariju@na, oxyc*done, hydroc*done, and three handg*ns. Across both addresses the count was 14 handg*ns, several of them stolen, one with the serial number removed, and more than $590,000 in cash.⠀
Kehoe called the fent@nyl haul enormous. "The DEA estimates, in their website, that a kilo of fent@nyl could potentially k*ll up to 500,000 people," he said.⠀
DEA put the seized fent@nyl at about 1.5 million potentially f@tal doses. Kehoe said 2 milligrams can be de*dly.
The indictment charges conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute fent@nyl, coc*ine, and methamphetamine. Separate counts cover g*ns in furtherance of a drug crime and felon in possession of a fire@rm.⠀
Prosecutors say a conviction carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life.
