This years fire prevention theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety”

09/30/2026

Tonight, our members put in the work on one of the most important skills we perform on the fireground: primary search.

When we arrive at a structure fire, conditions can change rapidly and information can be limited. That’s why our crews train to make search a top priority.

Tonight’s training was another opportunity for our members to sharpen those skills and reinforce why search remains one of our most important life-safety priorities.

Clearwater Fire Department Implements Burn Ban

Clearwater, Kan. – Effective immediately, the Clearwater Fire Department has implemented a burn ban within the City of Clearwater and its fire protection area including Ninnescah Township and all of Sumner County.

The burn ban is being implemented due to the current dangerous fire conditions, including extremely dry conditions, higher-than-normal temperatures, low humidity and typical windy conditions. Should a grass or wildland fire occur, it could spread rapidly and pose significant challenges for firefighters and surrounding properties.

The burn ban includes the following regulations:

• No outdoor burning is allowed, including open burning, burn barrels, chimeneas and other outdoor fireplaces.
• Active burn permits are suspended, and no new burn permits will be issued while the ban is in effect.
• The burn ban does not include fires used for food preparation, such as barbecue grills.

This burn ban will remain in effect until conditions improve significantly. The Clearwater Fire Department will continue to monitor fire-weather conditions and evaluate the status of the burn ban on a regular basis.

Residents are reminded to use extreme caution with any potential sources of ignition and to help prevent wildland fires by maintaining their property and avoiding activities that could cause a fire to start or spread.

Violations of the burn ban will be taken seriously, and violators may be subject to citation or other enforcement action.

For questions regarding the burn ban, outdoor burning requirements, or fire prevention, please contact the Clearwater Fire Department.

Please help us protect our community and our firefighters by complying with the burn ban.
