We are so excited to announce that our annual Fall Festival will happen on October 29th from 5:00-7:00pm. For those new to Santa Fe, this is a fun event with lots of carnival games, animals, food trucks, a hayride, a cake walk and a soda walk, a "Haunted Hallway", candy and prizes, and so much more! Kids and adults are encouraged to wear their costumes, just please leave any weapons that might go with the costume at home. The price for this event is $5 for an "all you can play" wristband. In addition, trips down the "Haunted Hallway" are just $1 extra. So mark your calendars and don't miss out on this very fun event!

In addition, we are asking for candy donations as well as boxes of little debbies (for the cake walk) and 2 liter bottles of soda (for the soda walk). Have your child bring these to the front office and they will get to feed our candy monster. In addition, we will mark down everything that is brought, and the classroom that brings the most (bags of candy, boxes of little debbies, or 2 liter sodas) will win a party with Mrs. Inabinet.

Here are just some reminders of things over the next few days.

1. Thursday (10/8), all school will have an early release. There is always some confusion on this, but early release for elementary campuses is 1:00. Please do your very best to be on time for pickup as the rest of that afternoon is for us to meet with individual families and have those super important beginning of year parent conferences.

2. We are excited about getting to meet with your for parent conferences. Be thinking about questions that you might have. One important question to ask your child's teacher is, "what can I do at home to support what my child needs?" We need your help in getting your child to reach their full potential.

3. There is no school on Friday, October 9th and no school on Monday, October 12th. We hope you have a wonderful long weekend with your family!

1. El jueves (8 de octubre), habrá salida anticipada en toda la escuela. A veces esto genera confusión, pero la hora de salida para las escuelas primarias es a la 1:00 p. m. Por favor, hagan todo lo posible por llegar a tiempo para recoger a sus hijos, ya que dedicaremos el resto de la tarde a reunirnos con cada familia para celebrar las importantísimas reuniones de padres de inicio de año.

2. Nos entusiasma reunirnos con ustedes para estas conferencias. Vayan pensando en las preguntas que puedan tener. Una pregunta importante para hacerle al maestro o maestra de su hijo es: "¿Qué puedo hacer en casa para apoyar las necesidades de mi hijo?". Necesitamos su ayuda para lograr que su hijo alcance su máximo potencial.

3. No habrá clases el viernes 9 de octubre ni el lunes 12 de octubre. ¡Esperamos que disfruten de un maravilloso fin de semana largo en familia!

In partnership with Texas Health Resources, Santa Fe will be hosting a drive through flu shot clinic on Tuesday, October 6th from 4:30-6:30. These flu shots are for anyone 10 or older as long as a parent is present. That means you can get flu shots for much of your family for absolutely FREE! Not only that, the only information you have to give is a signature on a piece of paper confirming you don't have any disqualifying health conditions. These seasonal flu shots will be given out on a first come, first serve ​basis in the front driveway of Santa Fe Elementary.

Research continues to show that an annual flu vaccine is one of the best ways to protect children from influenza and its potentially serious complications. Flu vaccination can reduce a child’s chances of getting sick, needing medical care, or being hospitalized—and even when vaccinated individuals do get the flu, vaccination can help make the illness less severe. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends annual flu vaccination for children ages 6 months and older who do not have a medical reason not to receive it.

El Mes de la Herencia Hispana se vive con gran entusiasmo. Este año, nuestro equipo de especialistas está integrando la herencia hispana en sus clases para que todos los estudiantes puedan aprender sobre diversas culturas y vivirlas de muchas maneras.

🇧🇷🌎 ¡El Mes de la Herencia Hispana en Educación Física! Nuestros estudiantes están aprendiendo a jugar a la *peteca*, un juego tradicional brasileño que combina movimiento, coordinación y mucha diversión. ¡Nos encanta aprender sobre culturas de todo el mundo a través del juego! La *peteca* es un juego tradicional de Brasil que consiste en golpear con la mano un volante artesanal para mantenerlo en el aire o pasarlo por encima de una red. Tiene raíces indígenas brasileñas y es similar a una mezcla entre voleibol y bádminton. 🇧🇷 ¡Es una forma divertida de practicar la coordinación ojo-mano, la agilidad y el trabajo en equipo!

Leer libros de autores hispanos en la biblioteca, crear obras de arte y cantar canciones contribuyen a la diversión y a la celebración. Nos alegra que todos los estudiantes de Santa Fe estén aprendiendo sobre diversas culturas, viviéndolas y honrando las festividades de este mes.

Hispanic Heritage Month is alive and going strong. This year our specials team is infusing Hispanic Heritage in their blocks so every student can engage in learning and experiencing cultures in many ways.

🇧🇷🌎 Hispanic Heritage Month in PE! Our students are learning to play Peteca, a traditional Brazilian game that combines movement, coordination, and lots of fun! We love learning about cultures around the world through play! Peteca is a traditional Brazilian game played by hitting a handmade shuttlecock with your hand to keep it in the air or send it over a net. It has Indigenous roots in Brazil and is similar to a mix of volleyball and badminton. 🇧🇷 It's a fun way to practice hand-eye coordination, agility, and teamwork!

Reading books by Hispanic authors in the library, creating art and singing songs are all adding to the fun and celebration. We are grateful every student at Santa Fe is learning and experiencing cultures and honoring the festivities of the month.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated and dressed up today to surprise Mr. Ford. Today was joyful and fun to celebrate a leader with such heart and determination to see every single student and staff grow to reach their full potential.

If your student participated in the undercover dress up day please share your pictures in the comments. Everyone looked great and Mr. Ford figured it out by announcements this morning. Happy Principal Appreciation month 🎉 we love you.
