The McGaffin Carillon is one of fewer than 200 cast bell carillons in North America. Its 51 bells weigh a total of 21,000 lbs.

The McGaffin Carillon is one of about 200 cast bell carillons in North America and the only one in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. Its 47 bells weigh a total of about 15,000 lbs and are played by a person at a console high in the tower. This unique voice has serenaded University Circle since 1968. It has pealed for celebrations and tolled for tragedy. During summer concerts the audience brings blankets, lawn chairs and picnics to the lawns surrounding the tower.

The Friends of the McGaffin Carillon will be hosting next year's congress of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, June 14-18, 2027. We're excited to show off the results of our recent carillon renovation and University Circle. Expect 120-150 carillonists from North America and the world. There will be lots of bell music in the air.
