Join NOBS and George Barnum, librarian and former Agency Historian at the Government Publishing Office (GPO) with his presentation, PICTURING THE BIG SHOP: Photos of the U.S. Government Publishing Office, 1900-1980 on Thursday, May 28th, at 7pm at Loganberry Books. His talk will focus on his 2017 book with the same title and the photos, "which are in themselves a very fascinating record not only of the agency but of 20th century commercial and industrial photography".

Years ago THE TOOLSHED was a brick and mortar store, these days it is by appointment only but the books are still in their "Toolshed". They love old children’s moveable and popups, Saalfield Published books (an Akron publisher from 1899-1977 who was one of the world's biggest children's book publishers), and Ohio related authors (Louis Bromfield, Jake Falstaff, and Harlan Hatcher). Mumpsimus Books exhibited at the Akron Antiquarian Book and Paper Show for the first time last year and will be joining us again this year from Westfield, NY. A few of the treasures they will be bginging with them are a 1928 Arabian Nights, 1st edition A Game of Thrones and an 1895 Masonic Publication of the Knights Templars'. Leading up the 40th Akron Antiquarian Book & Paper Show, we like to pique your interest by sharing with you a bit about the dealers who will be exhibiting at the Show along with a few photos of their wares. After graduate school in photography and 30 years of selling in Chapel Hill, NC, Andrew Cahan returned to his hometown of Akron to open a book business concerned with all aspects of photography, from the artistic to the technical manuals of the nineteenth century.
