Professional Office Space The Brownhoist Building is an historic structure at E. 45th and St. Clair Ave in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Brownhoist factory is at E. 45th and Hamilton. The Brownhoist Industrial Machinery Co. made large cranes for loading and unloading, especially RR equipment. They made a direct competitor to the Hulett Automatic Unloader, also made in Cleveland. The machine was called the Brownhoist Fast Plant. The Brownhoist is now private office space.

Here's your TBT! 114 years ago today, Alexander E. Brown had his fireproof walls patented. This construction was used in the Brownhoist Factory (and probably the current headquarters building too?), after the original factory building burned to the ground.

We always wondered how and when did the headquarters building get moved up to the St. Clair Ave. frontage, but I reviewed this blog post by Christopher Busta-Peck where he indicated that a new headquarters was built in 1902. It had a similar design to the original HQ building at Hamilton and Belden (E. 45th st.).
