🇺🇸 Standing tall. Standing proud. Making history. 🇺🇸
The Sea Cadets had the incredible honor of serving as the Color Guard during the commissioning of the USS Cleveland LCS 31.
A Color Guard is a ceremonial unit responsible for presenting and safeguarding the National, Navy, and organizational colors while demonstrating the highest standards of military bearing, discipline, and precision. For this historic event, the organizational colors proudly included the flag of the Cleveland Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
As the ceremony began and the National Anthem played, our Sea Cadets had the privilege of presenting the colors before thousands of spectators and a worldwide television audience. They carried out their responsibilities with professionalism, pride, and exceptional precision, representing not only our unit, but also the values and traditions of the Sea Cadet program.
We are incredibly grateful to the U.S. Navy for entrusting our cadets with such an important role during this historic milestone. Opportunities like this create memories and leadership experiences that last a lifetime.

The official party included Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao, Vice Admiral Karl Thomas, United States Senator Jon Husted, United States Representative Shontel Brown, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, and USS Cleveland Ship Sponsor Robyn Modly.
We are especially grateful for the confidence and trust placed in our cadets by USS Cleveland Commanding Officer CDR Bruce Hallett, Executive Officer CDR Adam Cline, and Command Master Chief CMC Randy Castillo to perform such a meaningful responsibility.

⚓🎉 Community Day was an absolute blast for your Cleveland Division Sea Cadets!
As part of the week-long celebration leading up to the commissioning of the USS Cleveland LCS 31, our cadets had the honor of supporting Community Day by running a hands-on Knot Tying Station inside the Commissioning Village hosted by the USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation.
The original mission was simple: teach young visitors how to tie nautical knots. What actually happened? A whole lot of laughs, excitement, friendly chaos, and nonstop fun... just the way we like it! 😄⚓
From future sailors to curious families, it was incredible watching so many people stop by to learn, participate, and celebrate the Navy’s newest ship alongside us.
Your Cleveland Sea Cadets will also play an important role during the official commissioning ceremony on Saturday, May 16, and we are proud to be part of this historic moment for our city and our Navy.
A very special thank you to Fairbanks Morse Defense for the outstanding support and for providing the awesome shirts and hats that kept our cadets looking sharp all day long!
