🎃 Our candy stash isn’t going to fill itself… 👀🍬

Larchwood Care’s annual Halloween Boo-levard is coming Thursday, October 29th, and we’re getting ready for a frighteningly fun time!

Want to help us keep the treats coming? 🍫🍭

Drop off a bag (or two 😉) of individually wrapped candy at our front reception desk anytime before October 29th.

Every bag helps us make the day a little more fun for our residents, families and Larchwood community. 🧡

And let’s be honest… nobody wants to be the house that runs out of candy. 😂👻

🍁 A Little Fall at Larchwood 🍁

The leaves are changing, the air feels new,
And fall has found its way here, too.

There’s coffee brewing, call lights ringing,
And down the hall, you might hear someone singing.

Therapy is moving, Activities has a plan,
Nursing is busy doing all that they can.

Respiratory’s somewhere checking a vent,
While Maintenance swears they’re on their way… wherever they went. 😂

Housekeeping’s busy, Dietary too,
And someone has already brought enough candy for two. 🎃

There are stories being told and families stopping by,
As orange leaves dance beneath an October sky.

It’s busy. It’s caring. Sometimes a little loud—
But there’s something special about this Larchwood crowd.

Because Larchwood isn’t just rooms and halls,
It’s the people inside them who give life to it all.

So here’s to warm drinks, cool nights, and leaves turning gold,
To new memories made and favorite stories retold.

Bring on the pumpkins, the sweaters, and all—
🍂 Larchwood Care is ready for fall. 🍂

Behind one resident who uses a ventilator is a team whose work reaches far beyond the bedside.

Depending on the resident’s needs, that team can include:

🩺 Pulmonary providers
🩺 Primary medical providers
🫁 Respiratory therapists
💊 Nurses
🤝 Nursing assistants
🚶 Physical therapists
👐 Occupational therapists
🗣️ Speech-language pathologists
🥗 Registered dietitians
🍽️ Dietary and food service staff
💬 Social services
🎨 Activities staff
🧹 Housekeeping
🧺 Laundry
🔧 Maintenance

That’s 15 different roles—and across shifts, there can be several people filling each one.

Some manage breathing and medical needs. Others support movement, communication, nutrition, comfort, meaningful activities, and the daily work that keeps the building running.

At Larchwood Care, our respiratory therapists provide coverage around the clock as part of that larger team.

Behind the ventilator is a person with a life, preferences, relationships, and goals. It takes many people working together to support that whole person. 💚

RT life doesn’t have to mean getting your steps in between the ER, ICU, CT, four units, and three different floors? 😂

At Larchwood Care, our respiratory residents are primarily together on one specialized unit—meaning less running around and more time focused on what RTs actually love doing: respiratory care.

Manage vents. Wean. Advance. Troubleshoot. Watch someone progress. Get to know your residents—and sometimes, become a little bit like family. 💙

Different setting. Same RT brain. A different kind of impact.
