In 2026, the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine - who started Joseph & Mary's Home, along with several other Cleveland, Canton, Kentucky and South Carolina ministries - are celebrating 175 years of addressing the unmet needs of the community. This past Wednesday, JMH was honored to host our fellow E. 22nd Cleveland-based Ministries for a special 175th Anniversary Prayer Service and Luncheon!
Stanley Foster, our Peer Recovery Supporter, represented JMH in the procession. He presented an image of the Holy Family, created by artist Gracie Morbitzer-Collins. As Stanley stood proudly with the painting, JMH Board Secretary and Sisters of Charity Health System Senior Vice President, Mission and Ministry Miguel Chavez read, "The image of the Holy Family reminds us that love is often expressed in quiet, every day acts of presence, patience and shared life... at Joseph & Mary's Home, that same spirit is lived out through authentic accompaniment and compassionate care... healing is not rushed but nurtured, dignity is restored and joy can re-emerge even after hardship."

Parishioners and Fr. Gary Chmura from Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland visited today to learn more about Joseph & Mary's Home. It was a blessing to welcome them to our ministry and share how they can help us in caring for neighbors in need. Earlier this week, we were happy to welcome back our first Executive Director Sr. Joan Gallagher, CSA, who came for a tour of the new Joseph's Home! Sr. Joan was accompanied by her nephew, former Board Chair Rich Gallagher. They were happy to see the new space fully operational, and had the chance to chat with current residents.
Both Sr. Joan and Rich have played an integral role in ensuring the success and longevity of Joseph & Mary's Home. We are blessed to have their support, as well as support from the extended Gallagher family!

Yesterday – March 19 – Joseph & Mary’s Home supporters came together to celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph. Mass was celebrated in the Holy Family Chapel at fellow Sisters of Charity Health System ministry Regina Health Center. A luncheon reception followed.
Deacon Mark Yantek, executive director of Regina Health Center, delivered the homily. “Just like St. Joseph said yes to doing God’s will, the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine said yes to God when they established Joseph & Mary’s Home,” he said. “They knew God was calling them to fulfill a need.”
Today, Joseph & Mary’s Home staff members and donors continue to say yes to ensuring residents are treated with dignity and respect while receiving medical respite care. “May we all continue to humbly say yes to God even if we don’t know where the road will lead us to next,” said Deacon Mark.

Executive Director Anna Stormer had a busy first week in her new role. Aside from becoming acclimated with her responsibilities, she had the opportunity to meet Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne.
