Justice for Brother Johnny Tetrick
Today, the Supreme Court of Ohio reinstated the felony murder conviction of Leander Bissell in the line-of-duty death of Cleveland Firefighter Johnny Tetrick.
Thank you to Michael O’Malley and the entire Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office for their continued work, commitment, and dedication in pursuing justice for Brother Tetrick and his family.
Brother Tetrick was killed while doing what firefighters do every day — serving this community and protecting others. His loss continues to be felt deeply by his family, his fellow firefighters, and the entire Cleveland Firefighter family.
While no court decision can bring Johnny back, today’s ruling is an important step toward justice and accountability. Emergency scenes are our workplaces. When drivers ignore warning lights, drive through blocked lanes, and put first responders in danger, the consequences can be devastating.
We continue to stand with Johnny’s family, his loved ones, and all who knew and served alongside him. We are grateful to everyone who has fought to ensure that his sacrifice is never forgotten.
Rest easy, Brother Tetrick. We will never forget.
