How do you measure up to a baby giraffe? 🦒 The old giraffe feeding deck was renovated last summer, and the beloved baby giraffe height measurement sign was removed for construction. White Backed Vultures are back in the Flight Cages for the summer season! Meet Draak and Mungo — two male vultures helping guests connect with a species that is now Critically Endangered due to poisoning, habitat loss and agricultural land conversion.

Draak hatched right here at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in 2018, where animal care staff carefully incubated and hand-reared him before reintroducing him to his parents. Mungo hatched at Dallas Zoo, later spent time at Zoo Boise, and joined the zoo family in 2022.

And if you think they look impressive on the ground, wait until they fly overhead — White Backed Vultures can have a wingspan reaching over 7 feet long.
