Last week, Passage's staff was out in force in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties for a host of Fathers Walk events throughout the region including; Aaron and Elysia representing Passages at Hawthorne Elementary in Lorain!

They joined the half mile walk from the Community Cultural Center to the elementary school. They were joined by over 40 fathers and their children as well as local community leaders and school staff.

Aaron and Elysia presented information on the importance of fathers being active in their children's lives and education. They shared details on programming in Lorain, including STEPS, Family Resiliency, and Preparing for Fatherhood!

Last week, our STEPS and Family Resiliency teams in Lorain County connected with fathers in the community while collaborating with Pathway's Enrichment Center Food Pantry in Lorain. We packed nearly 150 food boxes and bags for families in the community.

The team was able to connect with dads who visited the pantry and were able to share details of Passage's programs.

Passages has been a proud sponsor and supporter of Fathers Walk since its inception 20 years ago, and we will be out in force at schools around town on the big day this year!

We hope you'll join us for the 21st Annual Fathers Walk is Thursday September 17, 2026 for schools and early childhood programs throughout Cuyahoga County and across the State of Ohio.

Fathers and other male mentors are encouraged to be involved in their child(ren)s education on this date and throughout the school year! Please support the thousands of fathers, uncles, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, brothers and mentors that step up to support the education of children in their lives.

The Fathers Walk Pledge
On September 17, 2025, fathers and male mentors will take the following pledge and will be encouraged to keep it year around:

I am responsible for the education of my child.
I will encourage all children to do their best every day at school.
I will speak to my child about the value of learning and the importance of reaching your potential.
I will help with school work and review assignments for completion.
I will praise my child when he/she does well in school.
I will speak with my child’s teachers and support them in educating my child.
I will teach my child the value of education and the value of family.
I will work with my child’s mother or guardian to achieve the best academic and social outcomes for my child even if I do not live with my child

Walk your child to school and show your support for the importance of father involvement in children’s lives.

We didn't let the stormy weather dampen the joy and impact of this past weekend's, second annual Fathers and Family Fun Day!

From tasty treats to petting zoo fun to face painting, bouncy houses, and awesome giveaways; fun day attendees of all ages had an absolute blast, and we were so proud to have hosted it with our wonderful community partners!

Passages values fathers in our communities! This past weekend we were a part of the Lorain County Urban League Block Party, as well as Cleveland's Family Fun Day in Public Square earlier this week, too!

These were great community events that brought together so many fathers and their families throughout Northeast Ohio!

Last year's Fathers and Family Fun Day was an absolute blast, and this year's is going to be even better!

Join us on Saturday, August 22nd from noon until 3 p.m. at the Concerned Citizens Community Council space (13611 Kinsman Road Cleveland, Ohio 44120) for an afternoon of FREE family fun!

The day will feature food, ice cream, yard games, a petting zoo, face painting, prizes, give aways, and soooo much more!
