DID YOU KNOW?

The Cleveland Fire Department Dive Team has underwater drone capabilities.

The FIFISH V-EVO ROV is equipped with a robotic arm, high-powered lights, and a 4K camera — a game changer for underwater location and recovery.

Before our divers ever enter the water, the drone can search the area, stream live video back to the surface, light up dark water, and use its robotic arm to inspect or retrieve objects.

That means faster searches, better information for our dive teams, and less time with divers in hazardous conditions.

Technology and training, working together to serve our community.

Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department - Weather Update, Sat Oct 10

Good news this afternoon: the National Weather Service has cancelled the High Wind Warning for Blount County. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 7 PM tonight instead.

Expect east winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 45 mph - still strong enough to bring down limbs and knock out power. Keep loose items secured and your phones charged.

The Flood Watch continues through Sunday 7 AM. Never drive through flooded roads - turn around, don't drown.

As always, check on your neighbors. We'll keep you posted.

That's a wrap on Fire Prevention Week! Quick recap: charge on hard surfaces, use the right charger, replace damaged cables, and test your smoke alarms. And yesterday's quiz answer? FALSE — never charge under a pillow. Thanks for following along, Cleveland — and don't forget Trunk or Treat, October 17 from 4–7 PM at Cleveland Park! 🎃

⚠️ HIGH WIND WARNING — BLOUNT COUNTY ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Blount County from 1:00 AM Saturday, October 10 until 1:00 AM Sunday, October 11. East winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move through.

Winds this strong can bring down trees and power lines and cause widespread power outages. Please:

✅ Secure loose items outside tonight — trampolines, patio furniture, trash cans
✅ Treat every downed power line as live — stay away and call 911
✅ Charge phones and keep a flashlight handy in case the power goes out
✅ Limit travel during the strongest winds if you can; watch for trees and debris on the roads
✅ Check on neighbors and family who may need a hand

Never drive through water covering the road — turn around, don't drown. In an emergency, call 911.

Storm shelters are located on Park Rd, next to the community center, and will be open and available if needed. See our pinned post about the shelters at the top of our page.
