We know what it’s like to come home ready to work, get your own place, and move forward only to have your record come up before anyone even gets to know you.

You did your time. You’re trying to do right. So why should one mistake keep following you forever?

That’s why we’re fighting to change the rules in Cleveland so having a record doesn’t automatically shut you out of a job or a place to live.

If you know somebody who’s been denied a job, housing, or an opportunity because of their past, send them this.

Your record is part of your story. It shouldn’t be the whole story.

Every person on death row has a name. A story. A family waiting for them.

And every person returning home from prison deserves the same chance at redemption.

After an Ohio judge denied Ms. Shirley’s son expungement without even looking him in the eye, she felt what millions feel in our courts: invisible.

She chose power instead.

Her story isn’t unique. It’s shared by countless Ohioans who refused to stay silent.
