On November 3, Cuyahoga County voters will decide the future of critical health and human services through Issue 11, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Levy.

From food assistance and senior support to homelessness services, behavioral health care, and child protective services, these programs support hundreds of thousands of local residents—including many YWCA Greater Cleveland participants.

Without additional funding, our community could face devastating cuts to services that children, families, older adults, and individuals experiencing homelessness depend on.

YWCA Greater Cleveland encourages everyone to learn more about Issue 11, check their voter registration, and make an informed decision this November.

Join us on November 7th at 10 AM for Walk for Herr, an event to raise community awareness about the challenges individuals experiencing homelessness face when seeking shelter and to help secure critical gap funding for the Norma Herr Women’s Center.

Cleveland’s late-fall weather may be unpredictable, but one thing is certain: people fleeing violence cannot wait for the “right” conditions to seek safety. Through this walk, we’re standing together to shine a light on the urgent need for safe shelter and support for those experiencing homelessness.

We are joining our YWCA sisters across the nation and the globe today, , to call attention to the problem of child marriage – which significantly increases the risk of experiencing domestic violence and decreases access to education and healthcare - here in the United States.

Our state elected leaders can stop this practice in its tracks: Today, 17 states prohibit marriage under the age of 18 without exceptions for parental permission, pregnancy, or court approval. 17 is not enough. We can and must do better for our nation’s girls.
