Last week, community members, business owners, artists, partners, and neighbors gathered for the Hough Cultural Preservation Project Strategic Roadmap Celebration + Conversation to mark an important milestone: the end of the planning phase and the beginning of implementation.

Together, we reflected on a big question:

What does a cultural district look and feel like when it is shaped by the people who call it home?

The conversation was about more than a roadmap. It was about identity, ownership, culture, investment, and belonging. How can we build a future for Hough that honors what has always been here while creating space for what comes next?

The 4 P’s — People, Place, Power, and Prosperity — will serve as our compass as we move forward:

PEOPLE — Centering the people and culture that make Hough what it is.
PLACE — Strengthening the places, spaces, and cultural anchors we call home.
POWER — Creating pathways for residents to help shape and make decisions about Hough’s future.
PROSPERITY — Building opportunities for ownership, investment, and shared economic growth.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their vision, asked questions, listened, celebrated, and helped make this such a beautiful day of community and shared vision.

And a special shoutout to Chateau Hough, Leo’s Casino, Hart’s Kitchen, and all of our incredible performers for helping bring the celebration to life.

The roadmap is complete. Now the work begins. Hough is happening.

The 4 P’s: A Roadmap for Hough.

What does it mean to preserve Hough while building toward its future?

It starts with People. Place. Power. and Prosperity.

PEOPLE — Hough is our people.
Centering residents, artists, youth, businesses, and the cultural stories that make Hough who we are.

PLACE — Hough is home.
Honoring our history, strengthening cultural anchors, and shaping the places and spaces that create a sense of belonging.

POWER — Hough decides what comes next.
Building pathways for residents to have a meaningful voice in decisions that shape the neighborhood.

PROSPERITY — Hough is building how we thrive.
Creating opportunities for Black businesses, ownership, access to capital, and wealth to grow within the community.

Together, the 4 P’s provide a framework for the Hough Cultural Preservation Project Strategic Roadmap, shaped by the voices and ideas of more than 800 residents.

Now, we want to bring the conversation back to the community.

Join us Thursday, October 1 for the HCPP Strategic Roadmap Celebration + Conversation as we reflect on what we’ve built together and talk about what comes next.

Come learn. Come connect. Come be part of the next chapter of Hough.
