Congratulations 🎊 Graduates, Class of 2026🎓

On behalf of the Cliffside Park Housing Authority, Happy Juneteenth!

The name “Juneteenth” comes from the date June 19th, the date in 1865 when Union troops landed in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War was over and that all who were enslaved were to be freed. This was 2 and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a commitment to the equality and dignity for all.

Today we recognize Memorial Day and honor all the lives lost in service to our great country.

This Memorial Day, as you celebrate the long weekend with your friends and family, please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who serve as the guardians of the values that we hold so dear as Americans- life, liberty, and justice.

While we can never repay our servicemembers and veterans for what they have given up, we can treat them with honor, dignity, and respect every single day.
