THE DRAGON AWARD

At Clinton High School, we know that it takes an incredible team to keep the fire burning, and we want to celebrate the people who make CHS such a special place!

Last week’s winner is Dr. Beavers! Dr. Beavers has been hard at work spearheading our upcoming STEM Night Open House, putting in countless hours of planning and preparation to make this event a success! Beyond this event, she is always willing to take on extra responsibilities, lend a helping hand, and do whatever it takes to support our students and staff. Her dedication and willingness to go above and beyond make her an invaluable part of our Dragon family!

Our AP Bio, AP Chem, and Medical Therapeutics students had a great day at ETSU today! 💙
They got to learn from the College of Public Health, eat in the dining hall, and hear from some of our very own alumni Dragons!

Days like this give our students a chance to explore what their future could look like, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to visit ETSU! 🧡 🐉

HERE COME THE FRESHMEN! 👀 They are right behind the seniors! Sophomores, Juniors, where are you?? Tomorrow's the last day for the candy drive! Are the seniors going to hold on to their lead, or are the FRESHMEN going to prove that this is THEIR SCHOOL! 🤔

Our very own OTR, Karsten Miller, and her student, Julianne Smith, OTS, joined our Medical Therapeutics students to talk all things Occupational Therapy!

From helping students succeed in school to helping patients regain skills in medical settings, they gave our students a glimpse into the many ways occupational therapists make a difference in people’s lives.

We love bringing real-world professionals into our classroom to help our students explore future careers and see the possibilities ahead of them!

Some doors are built with wood and paint. Others are built with community.

For our Frontier Jubilee at The Clinch River Antique Festival - Historic Downtown Clinton, the students at Anderson County Career & Technical Center built us saloon doors - doors that became a symbol of something even more meaningful.

They opened to a community full of young people who remind us what makes Clinton special. They opened for the Clinton High School cheer, dance, and football teams, who walked through them and into the cheers of a community that was proud to celebrate them before their big game just down the road. (Clinton High School Cheerleading, Clinton High School Dance Team, CHS Dragons Football Booster Club, Clinton High School).

They opened because Clinton FFA students filled our downtown with the colors of fall, decorating with mums, pumpkins, and hay bales to make our streets feel like home.

And they opened at 6 a.m. on a rainy Saturday morning, when the Clinton HS Baseball team showed up to help our vendors unload and set up in the pouring rain — on their very first day of fall break. No complaints. Just kids willing to work hard and serve their community.

And then there was the Clinton City Schools Blaze Choir, whose voices filled downtown with a beautiful performance of Coat of Many Colors. There was something especially fitting about hearing a song rooted in love, belonging, and the beauty of being different, sung by the very children who represent our community’s future. They reminded us that sometimes, the most meaningful thing a young person can bring through an open door isn’t a tool, a helping hand, or a team jersey. Sometimes, it’s simply their voice — and the courage to share it with the world.

Different students. Different teams. Different ways of showing up. But all of them reminding us that the future of our community is already right here among us. That’s the beautiful thing about an open door. You never know who is watching, who is being inspired, or what possibility lies on the other side.

To every student, coach, teacher, and advisor who helped make this festival special: THANK YOU! You didn’t just help us put on an event. You showed us what community looks like.

May we always be a community that holds the doors open for our kids, cheers them on as they walk through, and gives them every reason to come back home. Because the best thing we can build in downtown Clinton isn’t just a beautiful place. It’s a place where the next generation knows there’s a place for them.
