🌟 Spotlight Thursday 🌟
This week, we’re excited to introduce Kathy Turpin, Secretary/Treasurer of the Anderson County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors!
Born and raised in Andersonville, Kathy’s roots in agriculture run deep. As the oldest of five girls growing up on a family dairy farm, she learned the value of hard work at an early age. By just six years old, she was helping pack silage, and by the age of nine, she was driving the dump truck while her father chopped silage. Along with milking 70 to 80 cows twice a day, seven days a week, her family also raised to***co, hay, and bottle-fed calves.
At sixteen, Kathy began driving her dad’s milk truck on weekends, collecting milk from local dairies and delivering it to the creamery. As the years passed, she continued working alongside her dad as their operation transitioned from dairy to beef cattle and hay production.
Today, Kathy and her husband raise beef cattle on their farm and lease three additional farms. Her passion for agriculture extends far beyond her own operation. She served nine years on the Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committee and worked as the Anderson County Soil & Water Conservation District Secretary and Soil Technician from 2008 until her retirement in 2021. Today, she continues her service as Secretary/Treasurer of the Anderson County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors and also serves on the Anderson County Agriculture Committee.
When she’s not working on the farm or serving her community, Kathy enjoys horseback riding, bowling, and taking her John Deere B and John Deere 60 tractors to shows and community events.
Kathy’s lifetime of dedication to agriculture, conservation, and public service has made a lasting impact on Anderson County. Her knowledge, experience, and passion for supporting local farmers make her an invaluable member of our Board.
Thank you, Kathy, for your unwavering commitment to agriculture, conservation, and the future of our community! 🌾🚜💚
