THE BELT IS BACK IN DEVIL COUNTRY!
CLINTON RED DEVILS — 2026 BATTLE OF THE BELT CHAMPIONS!

Clinton-Newberry football is more than a game—it’s tradition, community, and one of South Carolina’s oldest high school football rivalries! The Clinton-Newberry rivalry began on October 8, 1920, and this year’s matchup marked the 100th meeting between these two historic rivals!

Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Authority (CNNGA) is honored to partner with Clinton High School and Newberry High School for the annual Clinton-Newberry Natural Gas Battle of the Belt.

We are also proud to partner with both schools and local sports radio to recognize outstanding student athletes with MVP and Academic Player of the Game honors.
🏆 CHS MVP — Owen Glenn
Owen delivered an incredible performance, with touchdown runs of 21 yards and 80 yards, along with a 30-yard touchdown pass!
CHS ACADEMIC PLAYER OF THE GAME — Sr. RB/Safety #3 Lincoln Alexander 4.7 GPA
🏆 NHS MVP — Sincerer Glymph
A dual-threat quarterback , who recorded 122 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns!
NHS ACADEMIC PLAYER OF THE GAME — Sr. Dontavias Griffin 4.3 GPA

A BATTLE TO THE END! Both teams fought hard and showed tremendous talent and determination. In the third quarter, Clinton senior quarterback Owen Glenn ran an 80-yard touchdown, helping seal the victory for the Red Devils!

The Battle of the Belt trophy will remain at Clinton High School until next year’s competition.

CNNGA congratulates both the Clinton Red Devils and Newberry Bulldogs on a hard-fought game and wishes both teams a safe, successful, and exciting season!

Congratulations to all of the student athletes, coaches, school staff, families, fans, and community members who make this historic rivalry so special.
