⚠️ WEATHER ALERT – FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT ⚠️

The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to remain weather aware today as periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may impact our area.

🌧️ A Flood Watch is in effect for Dickenson and Buchanan Counties through 10:00 PM. Repeated downpours could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, along creeks and streams, and on roadways that are prone to flooding.

⛈️ Some storms this afternoon may also produce damaging wind gusts and hail across portions of the southern Appalachians.

Please monitor local weather conditions and be prepared to act if additional watches or warnings are issued. Never attempt to drive across a flooded roadway. Water can be deeper and moving faster than it appears, and roadways may be damaged beneath the water.

🚧 TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!

Please check on family members, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance during severe weather.

Stay informed. Stay alert. Stay safe.

⛏️💎 **MINING FOR MEMORIES AT THE DICKENSON COUNTY FAIR!** 💎⛏️

The Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office had a great time spending the day with some of our youngest community members during **Kids Day at the Dickenson County Fair!**

There were plenty of smiles and excitement as the kids rolled up their sleeves and tried their hand at **sluicing and mining for gems**. 💦💎 Watching them sift through the water and discover their own hidden treasures was definitely a highlight of the day!

Events like Kids Day give our deputies an opportunity to connect with children and families in a fun, positive environment. **Community policing is about more than wearing the badge—it’s about building relationships, creating trust, and making memories with the people we are proud to serve.**

A big **THANK YOU** to everyone who helped make Kids Day such a fun experience. We enjoyed every minute of it!

💎⛏️ **Who knew a little sand and water could uncover so many smiles?**

🏈💙🐺 **HOMECOMING SPIRIT AT RIDGEVIEW!** 🐺💙🏈

Homecoming Week is always a special time at Ridgeview, and our **Ridgeview Elementary School Resource Officers** were happy to get in on the fun and show off their **Wolfpack spirit!**

From dressing up and joining in on spirit days to spending time with students and supporting the Ridgeview community, our SROs know that being part of a school goes far beyond keeping it safe. It’s about **building relationships, making memories, supporting our students, and being present for the moments that make school special.**

We love seeing our deputies connecting with students, staff, athletes, and families throughout Homecoming Week. These are the relationships that strengthen our schools and our community. 💙

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this week so much fun!

🐺 **GO WOLFPACK!** 🐺

💙 **National Thank a Police Officer Day** 💙

Today, the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office recognizes **National Thank a Police Officer Day**—a day set aside to show appreciation for the men and women who put on the badge and serve their communities each day.

We are incredibly proud of the deputies and officers who serve Dickenson County with **Courage, Honor, Integrity, Service, and Respect**. Their work goes far beyond answering calls and enforcing laws. They help neighbors during difficult moments, protect our schools and communities, lend a hand when someone needs it, and work every day to build relationships with the people they serve.

To our deputies and to our fellow law enforcement officers throughout Southwest Virginia and across the Commonwealth—**THANK YOU** for your dedication, sacrifice, professionalism, and commitment to public service.

And to our community, thank you for the encouragement and support you continue to show our law enforcement family. A handshake, a kind word, a wave, or a simple “thank you” means more than you may realize.

💙 **Today, we say THANK YOU to those who serve and protect.** 💙

👮‍♀️💙 Celebrating National Police Woman Day — Better Late Than Never! 💙👮‍♀️

We may be a little late with this recognition, but we certainly didn’t want to miss the opportunity to celebrate SRO Stefanie Mullins in honor of National Police Woman Day!

SRO Mullins serves the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office and our school community with dedication, professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the students she protects each day. Her role goes far beyond wearing the badge — she works to build relationships, earn trust, provide guidance, and be a positive presence for our young people.

National Police Woman Day recognizes the women who have chosen a career in law enforcement and the important contributions they make to the communities they serve.

SRO Mullins, thank you for your service, your dedication to our students, and for representing the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office with pride. We appreciate you! 💙🖤

And please forgive us for being a little late — the appreciation is right on time! 😊

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 | REMEMBERING EACH MOMENT

Today, the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office pauses to remember the moments that forever changed our nation. As each of these times passes, we honor the innocent lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and all whose lives were forever changed.

10:28 AM — The North Tower collapsed.

Twenty-five years later, these times remain etched into our nation’s history. We remember the 2,977 people who were killed, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

May we remember not only how America was attacked that morning, but also how Americans responded—with courage, sacrifice, compassion, and unity.

We remember every life. We honor every hero. We will never forget.
