Open house is today for the Wildwood Recovery Center! This is the community's opportunity to come see the work that has been done and what can be expected for our family, friends, & community members that are faced with the challenge of addiction.

We've got some exciting news - Wildwood Recovery Center's open house is this Thursday!

We’ll be giving tours, serving refreshments, and connecting people with local recovery and community resources. Whether you’re coming to learn more about Wildwood, looking for resources, or just want to stop in and say hello, we'd love to have you.

A message from Dickenson County Administrator Larry Barton regarding the Verizon notices that were received by community members this week:

I wanted to share an update regarding Verizon’s planned retirement of some copper landline facilities in Dickenson County.

I spoke with a Verizon representative today and received additional clarification about the notices some residents have received. Verizon advised that the initial letter was informational and does not mean every customer will automatically lose their landline service.

Most importantly, Verizon confirmed that customers who do not have a reliable alternative service available will be able to keep their landline.

Dickenson County has been actively communicating with Verizon, the FCC, and the Virginia State Corporation Commission to make sure our residents—especially those in areas with limited cell or broadband service—continue to have access to reliable telephone and emergency communications.

Residents do not need to take any action at this time. Verizon has advised that additional communications will be sent directly to affected customers with more information and any steps they may need to take as this process moves forward.

We will continue to monitor this issue closely and share additional information as it becomes available.
