Closter: Rich in History
Saturday, October 3, 2-3pm

During the Revolutionary War history momentous events took place within the Closter’s current 3.3-square-mile area. But did you know that Closter, in the 1700s and 1800s, was a much larger region?

Within this larger area, other significant events occurred. And they are recorded as having happened in Closter. Not taking this into account has led to misunderstandings, especially about the “Closter Horseman,” who he was, and where his ride began. (He was a real person.)

Tim Adriance, a historical consultant and historic restoration expert for towns in North Jersey, will discuss his paper Where was Closter? and Closter’s role in Revolutionary history.

Did you know that E.M. Forster, who wrote "A Room with a View", "A Passage to India", and " Howard's End" also wrote some eerily prescient science fiction?
