The Town of Clover was chartered on December 24, 1887. Its origins trace back to a 5,000-gallon water tank built to serve the Chester and Lenoir Narrow Gauge Railroad's steam engines. Legend has it that excess water from the tank led to patches of clover growing nearby, inspiring the town's name. Over time, Clover evolved into a thriving textile community, with the textile industry playing a significant role in its economy. TOWN OF CLOVER, SOUTH CAROLINA

๐Ÿš”โš ๏ธ SLOW DOWN, CLOVER โ€” SOMEONE'S LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT! โš ๏ธ๐Ÿš”

We all have places to be. Whether you're heading to work, taking the kids to school, or running a quick errand, it's easy to get caught up in the rush of everyday life.

But here's something worth remembering:

Saving a few seconds isn't worth risking someone's life.

The Clover Police Department wants to remind everyone to be mindful of their speed, especially when traveling through residential neighborhoods.

๐Ÿก Residential streets are not racetracks. Children play outside, families walk their neighborhoods, and vehicles frequently enter and exit driveways.

๐Ÿšธ Expect the unexpected. A child chasing a ball, a pedestrian crossing the street, or a vehicle backing out of a driveway can appear with very little warning.

๐Ÿš— Pay attention to your speed. Speed limits are established for a reason. Even traveling just a few miles per hour over the posted limit can reduce your ability to react and stop safely.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Put the phone down. Distracted driving is dangerous at any speed.

โค๏ธ Remember what's important. The person walking down the sidewalk, riding a bicycle, or playing in their yard is someone's child, parent, spouse, or friend.

Our goal isn't simply to enforce traffic laws. It's to help ensure everyone makes it home safely.

We ask everyone to do their part. Slow down, stay alert, and help us keep Clover's streets safe.

A few seconds saved will never be worth a life lost.

A Message from Your Clover Police Department

At the Clover Police Department, we believe that serving our community means more than responding to calls, enforcing laws, and making arrests. It's about building relationships, earning trust, and being there when our community needs us most.

Every day, our officers work to make Clover a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. Whether it's checking on a neighbor, helping someone through a difficult situation, or simply taking a moment to talk with a resident, the little things often make the biggest difference.

We are proud to serve this community, and we recognize that the relationships we build with our citizens are just as important as the work we do behind the badge.

We encourage everyone to get to know our officers. If you see us out and about, don't hesitate to stop and say hello!

We're not just policing a community. We're part of it.

Thank you, Clover, for allowing us to serve you.

Today, September 11, the Clover Police Department will join our nation in remembering the lives lost and the sacrifices made during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Throughout the day, you may hear the old fire siren located on top of the Clover Police Department sound at several specific times. There is no emergency. The siren is being activated intentionally as an act of remembrance.

The siren will sound at significant moments from that morning:

8:46 a.m. โ€“ North Tower struck
9:03 a.m. โ€“ South Tower struck
9:37 a.m. โ€“ Pentagon struck
9:59 a.m. โ€“ South Tower collapsed
10:03 a.m. โ€“ Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania
10:28 a.m. โ€“ North Tower collapsed
12:30 p.m. โ€“ Final remembrance honoring the responders and victims who later died from 9/11-related illnesses

When you hear the siren today, we encourage you to take a moment to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๐Ÿš” SATURATION SATURDAY โ€“ AUGUST 29 ๐Ÿš”

Tomorrow, the Clover Police Department will be joining law enforcement agencies across South Carolina and the nation for Saturation Saturday, an initiative in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) focused on preventing impaired driving.

Throughout the evening, motorists can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence on our roadways as officers work to identify and remove impaired drivers before they can hurt themselves or someone else.

As we head toward Labor Day weekend, weโ€™re asking everyone to do their part. If your plans include alcohol, make your plans for a safe ride before the night begins. Use a designated driver, call a rideshare, or stay where you are.

There is never a good excuse to drive impaired.

Drive Sober. Get Home Safe. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšจ COMMUNITY ALERT: RENTAL & REAL ESTATE SCAMS ๐Ÿšจ

The Clover Police Department wants to make our community aware of rental and real estate scams targeting prospective renters and homebuyers. Scammers are becoming increasingly convincing, often using real property photos, legitimate addresses, and information copied from actual listings to make their scams appear legitimate.

A common scam involves someone advertising a home for rent that they do not own or have authority to rent. The scammer may offer the property at an unusually low price and then pressure the victim to send a security deposit, application fee, or first month's rent before seeing the property in person.

โš ๏ธ Watch for these warning signs:
โ€ข Rent or purchase prices that seem too good to be true
โ€ข Someone refusing or making excuses about meeting you at the property
โ€ข Requests for money before you have toured the property or signed legitimate documents
โ€ข Pressure to act immediately because "other people are interested"
โ€ข Requests for payment by wire transfer, gift card, cryptocurrency, or other difficult-to-recover methods
โ€ข Requests for Social Security numbers, banking information, or copies of identification before you've verified who you're dealing with
โ€ข Listings containing unusual wording, spelling errors, or information that doesn't match other advertisements for the property

โœ… Before sending money, VERIFY!

Visit the property in person whenever possible. Confirm the person offering the property actually owns it or is authorized to represent the owner. You can also search the property address online and compare listings. If you find the same home advertised by different people, at different prices, or with different contact information, that's a major red flag.

You can also perform a reverse-image search on photographs from the listing. Scammers frequently copy photographs from legitimate real estate listings and use them to create fraudulent advertisements.

Most importantly, don't allow anyone to rush you into sending money or providing personal information. Taking a few extra minutes to verify a listing could prevent you from losing hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

If you believe you have encountered a fraudulent rental or real estate listing, report the listing to the platform where it appeared and contact the appropriate law enforcement agency.

STOP. VERIFY. THEN PAY.

Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors, especially anyone currently looking for a home or rental property.
