I wanted to share an upcoming opportunity at Fresno State that may be of interest to students and families.
The 11th Annual Fresno State Education Fair will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a free, family-friendly event designed to connect students and families with higher education and community resources.
The event will include:
🎓 Fresno State campus tours, workshops and performances
📚 A resource fair featuring more than 50 organizations
🎓 Representatives from CSU and community colleges
🔬 Hands-on activities, prizes and other student experiences
❤️ Resources and information for families, with everyone welcome
Events like this can help students see themselves on a college campus, explore their options and begin thinking about their futures beyond high school.

It was wonderful to reconnect with so many familiar faces from my early years in Clovis Unified at last week’s annual State of the District Breakfast.
These relationships go back many years, and I’m grateful for the friendships, mentorship and shared commitment to serving students that have continued throughout my career.
It was especially meaningful to spend time with people who have been part of my journey from the beginning — and who continue to believe in the importance of strong, student-centered leadership for Fresno County.
Grateful for the memories, the friendships and the continued support. ❤️

🎉 Congratulations, Team FCSS! I’m thrilled to share that Dr. Lisa Benham-Lewis and our entire Curriculum and Instruction Department, led by Dr. Allison Hernandez are state level awardees! Their Expository Reading and Writing Curriculum has officially been named a 2026 Golden Bell Award winner! 🏆
This is an incredible honor and a well-deserved recognition of the outstanding work Lisa and her team are doing to support educators and students across Fresno County. The program is helping strengthen literacy and writing instruction—and now that work is being recognized at the state level.

Lisa and the team will be recognized at the Golden Bell Awards Ceremony in San Diego this December, alongside exceptional educational programs from across California.

What an incredible evening celebrating 150 years of Orange Center School District! 🐯
Since 1876, Orange Center has been more than a school—it has been a cornerstone of its community, where generations of students have learned, grown, built relationships and dreamed about their futures.
I was honored to join Superintendent Hirschfield, the Board of Trustees, teachers, staff, students, families and alumni in celebrating this remarkable milestone. The newly renovated spaces are a wonderful reminder that while we honor the past, we are also investing in the generations of students yet to come.
Orange Center’s Tiger Pride—Respect, Responsibility and Relationships—could not be more fitting for an evening like this.
Congratulations, Orange Center, on 150 years of service, community and Tiger Pride!
