A message from Chief Binaski:

We are excited about the service we provide to our community and we want to share that enthusiasm with you. Like most fire departments, we provide a range of services within our mission of providing for the fire and life safety of our community. We provide public education programs, work with contractors and developers to help plan a safe and effective community, conduct investigations into origin and cause of fires, work with juveniles and their families to determine potential of firesetting recidivisms, work to prevent and minimize effects related to weeds and similar abatement issues, and manage our emergency preparedness activity. Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is very active and involved in our community. On the reactive side of the house, our Emergency Services Bureau manages four divisions: Operations, Training, Communications and Support Services. Our Technical Rescue Team is part of a regional response team. Our Hazardous Materials Response Team is listed by the State as a Type I resource. Our response activity is typical of fire departments across the nation. We respond to fires of all kind, medical aid requests due to illness or injury, technical rescue and hazardous material incidents. We also respond to any number of special calls for service to meet the needs of our community as well as responding to neighboring jurisdictions through automatic and mutual aid agreements. All of the men and women of the Clovis Fire Department are dedicated to providing a high level of quality service to the people we serve. Please take the time to view items of interest to you in our web site. It is designed to give you a sample of our activity and the passion with which we provide “Service with Pride” to our community. Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we honor the 2,977 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless civilians who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness. Their sacrifice continues to remind us of the strength found in service, unity, and compassion.

From the Clovis Fire Department, we stand with our brothers and sisters in the fire service and all those who continue to carry the memories of September 11.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

A great reminder from the City of Clovis - Public Utilities Department on how to avoid melting your trash cart down. Keep from inviting us to your 4th of July celebrations but using fireworks safely.
- Light Safe and Sane fireworks at least 15 feet from any structure.
- Have a a bucket of water ready to place used fireworks in.
- Have a hose or fire extinguisher on hand, in case of an emergency.
- Don't allow children to light fireworks.
- NEVER place used fireworks directly in a trash cart.

We want everyone to have a safe 4th of July, and that includes your trash carts! Your City carts are made out of sturdy material, but they're no match for hot fireworks.

Please do not place any hot or smoking fireworks inside your trash carts. Instead, use a bucket or other container to fully submerge them in water and let them soak until completely cooled. They can then be safely disposed of in your gray refuse cart. Fireworks should never be placed in the green or blue carts.

Don't let this be YOUR trash cart this year! Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday!
