📢 Santa Claus is Coming to Grundy County is excited to announce that the application link for our 4th Annual Future First Responder Scholarship Program opened Monday, September 21st at 9:00 AM Central! (www.santaclausiscomingtogrundycounty.org)

Our mission is to invest in the dedicated individuals serving Grundy County. If you are pursuing a degree or advancing your career in public safety or healthcare, this opportunity is for you! 🩺🚒

Key Eligibility:
• Eligible Fields: Law Enforcement, Fire Science, Emergency Management, or Medical Professionals.
• Expanded Pathways: Open to active personnel advancing credentials (e.g., EMT to Paramedic, RN to NP/PA, PA to MD/DO, X-Ray Tech to Nuclear Med).
• Residency: Current Grundy County resident OR graduate of a Grundy County high school (Morris, Minooka, Coal City, GSW, Seneca, or Home-schooled).
• Requirements: 30+ completed college credit hours, unofficial transcript, 1 recommendation letter, and a short essay (500 words max).

***UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE***

The BNSF Railway crossing on Illinois 47 in Mazon will be closed beginning on Sunday, Sept. 13. The repairs are expected to take seven days to complete.

A posted detour will direct motorists to Illinois 113 and Interstate 55.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area and be prepared for slow and stopped traffic. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
