Hoytsville, originally named Unionville, first saw permanent settlers in 1859. The name was changed to Hoytsville in honor of Samuel P. Hoyt, an early settler who installed the first grist mill in Summit County.

Hoytsville has been a thriving community since it was first settled. Pictured are some of the stores and businesses that have found a home in Hoytsville over the years.

UDOT is planning upgrades to the eastbound I‑80/US‑40 on-ramp to improve traffic flow and safety near Kimball Junction.

The project will add a 12‑foot eastbound merge lane from Kimball Junction to Silver Summit. The additional lane will reduce congestion by expanding both freeways and the interchange ramp.

Other improvements include:
- Installing new overhead signage
- Improving drainage
- Improving snow removal
- Improving lighting along the I-80 EB to US-40 EB interchange ramp

Join the UDOT open house on October 13 from 5–7 pm at Basin Recreation Fieldhouse (1388 Center Dr, Park City) to learn more. The open house will be an informal, drop-in event. Visit udotinput.utah.gov/i80tous40improved for more details.

This project is in the design phase, and construction is anticipated to begin in 2027. Information about construction timing and impacts will be shared as details are finalized.
