Water Conservation Request Remains in Effect
Yosemite Spring Park Utility Company continues to ask all customers to conserve water.
With two wells remaining out of service, water storage tank levels remain low. Another period of exceptionally warm weather is forecast, making continued conservation essential to maintaining an adequate water supply for all customers.
Please continue to suspend the following outdoor water uses:
Hosing down driveways, patios, and sidewalks
Washing vehicles
Filling or topping off pools and hot tubs
Watering turf or lawns
We are closely monitoring water storage levels and system conditions and will notify customers when we can lift or modify the conservation request.

YSPUC previously notified the community that PFHxS detected in Wells 37A and 40A. Testing showed PFHxS at 19 parts per trillion (ppt) in Well 37A and 10 ppt in Well 40A. California currently does not have a Maximum Contaminant Level for PFHxS; the State Water Resources Control Board has established a health-based notification level of 3 ppt and a response level of 10 ppt.
Effective at 4:00 p.m. today, September 28, YSPUC took both wells out of service. Water from these wells will no longer be introduced into the YSPUC water system while we continue to work with the California Division of Drinking Water on monitoring and longer-term corrective measures.
YSPUC has been monitoring Wells 37A and 40A and reporting results to the Division of Drinking Water. We are also evaluating longer-term treatment options for PFHxS and other water-quality issues. At this time, the environmental source of the PFHxS detected in these wells has not been determined.
With both affected wells being removed from service today, YSPUC is coordinating with the Division of Drinking Water regarding the testing and other steps necessary to determine when the current customer advisory can be modified or lifted.
As per the Division of Drinking Water, we will be starting quarterly monitoring for Wells 37 and 40 in October; and these wells will remain out of service until their quarterly annual averages are calculated. At that point, YSPUC will determine appropriate next steps in consultation with the Division of Drinking Water.

Until YSPUC releases updated information, customers should continue to follow the guidance in YSPUC's September 9 notice.
YSPUC takes these results seriously. Our priority is protecting the community's water supply, complying with state requirements, and providing customers with accurate and timely information.
