Happy National Nut Day! Nuts may be small, but they pack a nutritional punch. Almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, and peanuts provide a variety of nutrients that support a healthy eating pattern.

Nuts offer:

Healthy fats that support heart health.

Plant-based protein to help build and repair body tissues.

Fiber to support digestion and help you feel satisfied.

Vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, magnesium, and copper, depending on the type.

Enjoy nuts as a snack, sprinkle them over oatmeal or salads, or add them to homemade trail mix. Choose unsalted varieties more often to help limit sodium, and remember that nuts are energy-dense, so a small handful can go a long way.

Thank you to all the families who joined us Monday night for our Discover 4-H leather workshop! We loved seeing youth of all ages learning, creating, and trying something new together.

A special thank-you to our facilities manager, Billy, for sharing his skills and leading such a fun, hands-on workshop for current 4-H’ers and families exploring 4-H for the first time.

There was so much happening that we couldn’t capture every moment, but here’s a glimpse of the fun!

Next up: our Discover 4-H flower pressing workshop. Find the details through our Eventbrite! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2003668860499?aff=oddtdtcreator

Share the dip, not the germ! Although the temptation to dip again is normal…Don’t double dip! Research has proven and science suggests that double dipping can be hazardous to your health. Double dipping contaminates the dip with bacteria from your mouth and hands. Check out these options to keep in mind when dip is the center of attention!

Our Healthy Bowls series continues this week with a colorful combination that was a big hit! Teriyaki shrimp served over rice with fresh pineapple made a delicious bowl that looked as special as it tasted.

Shrimp is a lean source of high-quality protein and provides vitamin B12, selenium, and other important nutrients. Pineapple adds natural sweetness, vitamin C, and a tropical touch, while rice provides energy to fuel our day.

Healthy bowls are a fun way to mix flavors, textures, and food groups into one satisfying meal. Sometimes, a few simple ingredients can make an ordinary meal feel extra special!
