Continuing our coverage of this week’s Hayden law enforcement contract discussion, Commissioner Duncan emphasizes moving forward with the draft agreement and the importance of cooperation between local governments.

Commissioner Mattare raises concerns about how growth within city limits impacts county services, increases public safety costs, and affects the burden on county taxpayers.

As our communities grow, so do the demands on public services. Taxpayers deserve transparency, fiscal responsibility, and a clear understanding of how these costs are calculated, shared, and funded.

Yesterday, the BOCC met with Sheriff Norris and the City of Hayden to discuss next steps for a potential Enhanced Services Agreement with KCSO. The draft agreement will be presented to the City Council next week, while the Board continues reviewing the proposal with a focus on fair rates, clear cost breakdowns, and transparency for taxpayers.
