Thank you for all who have donated to the book sale. There are so many interesting selections - but, we could use more. Bring your donation to the Cohoes Public Library and stop by at the Book Sale, Friday 10/9 from 5 - 7 pm (admission fee for preview night) and free admission on Saturday 10/10, from 10 am to 4 pm to pick some new selections.

We are collecting donations of candy for Halloween. We will be giving out candy at Trunk-or-Treat and we appreciate whatever you can give!

Donations of pre-wrapped candy can be brought to the library now through October 29 directly to the library circulation desk during regular library hours.

On Saturday, WMHT Public Media visited our library with a sneak peak of Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure. We had such a fun time going on safari with Elmo, making our own "binoculars", learning about conservation, reading animal stories, and discovering our city's own connection to the elephant's ancient cousin with a "mastodon bone dig".

In the show, Elmo adopts an elephant from Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and travels to Kenya to visit with the elephants. A patron at our event volunteered to adopt an elephant for a year on behalf of our library and the kids voted on which elephant we would adopt. The winner was .... Wangalla. Stop by the library each month for an update on Wangalla, the 11 month old orphaned elephant found amongst a herd of zebras.

Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure is presented by Nature | PBS in collaboration with Sesame Workshop and will premiere Wednesday, October 14 at 8/7c on PBS, PBS KIDS, YouTube & the PBS app.

Ahoy, Mateys! Get Ready for a Pirate Adventure - this Saturday, October 3, 2026 @ 11:00am - 2:30pm!

Hoist the Jolly Roger and set your course for the Cohoes Public Library’s Pirate Day! Join us for a swashbuckling day filled with stories, crafts, a pirate movie, games, and plenty of high-seas fun!

Bring your crew, unleash your imagination, and get ready to search for adventure around every corner. Pirates of all ages are welcome! Feel free to come dressed in your pirate costume to make it extra fun!

The Cohoes Public Library is updating their required long-range plan last adopted in 2023!

We need three to five Cohoes residents to be a part of a short-term long-range plan workshop team that includes the director and Board of Trustee member, and five to seven Cohoes residents to be a part of a Zoom and/or in-person focus group (TBD) led by Upper Hudson Library System about the library and city to inform the long-range plan.
