From NICU patient to future nurse!

What a special story for one of our Colby Community College nursing students. We're proud to be part of her journey.

When Colby Community College nursing student Kenli Larson arrived at HaysMed's Birth Center for a clinical rotation, she expected to learn more about caring for moms and babies. What she didn't expect was to meet the nurse who cared for her when she was a premature newborn.

More than 20 years ago, Kenli spent her first days of life in HaysMed's NICU. During her rotation, she discovered that Doris Rack, one of the nurses who helped care for her, is still serving mothers, babies, and families today after an incredible 50-year nursing career.

As Kenli prepares to become a nurse herself, their reunion is a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact healthcare professionals have on the lives they touch.

Colby Community College continues to grow!

CCC enrollment is up 1.5% from last year. Even more significant is the long-term trend:

🔹 17.8% growth over five years
🔹 19.5% growth over 10 years
🔹 No. 1 among Kansas community colleges for both five- and 10-year growth

CCC is also the only Kansas community college to show positive growth across the one-year, five-year and 10-year periods.
