Did you know that Colby High School recently started an intramural volleyball competition? Tuesday was week 4 of intramural volleyball, which takes place almost every Tuesday during AST. There are 5 teams, each with 6 people, and students were able to pick their team members across grades. Team 4, Lexi Graff, Rylee Carr, Zoe Kaiser, Mckenzi Meyer, Taebyn Lieders, and Jeremiah Oehmichen, is currently in first place and undefeated. The competition is fierce and students look forward to playing volleyball every Tuesday!

What a wonderful day for music! Yesterday the Colby Show Band switched genres to Jazz and started practicing music for their Christmas concert. Their concert is on December 14th, and the group is working really hard to improve their skills and get everything sounding perfect before then. This year's group doubled in size and added more students in both the brass and woodwind sections. We hope to see you at the concert later this year.

It’s National Earth Science Week. Seventh graders had the opportunity to do plant identification in the school forest. One goal of today’s activity was for students to recognize different varieties of plants. A main idea of National Earth Science Week is to raise awareness of the importance of different plant life on Earth. It was a great day of discovery and collaboration among students.

A few weeks ago, students in Mr. Schmutzler's Lifetime Sports class played an intense game of ultimate frisbee! Seniors and juniors were counted off by fours and split into five teams. Ultimate frisbee is played by passing the frisbee to teammates down the gym court until they reach the other side, but here’s the catch: if they drop the frisbee while passing it to their teammate, the other team gets the frisbee, and if a student blocks the frisbee in the middle of the opposing team passing it, the student who blocked it gets the frisbee to pass to their teammates. Carson, Nolt, Jasmine, Evan, Karina, and Allison's team won, going 5-0 against the other teams!

Leaving a little piece of history behind! ✍️✨

As part of our referendum project improvements, the elementary school is getting brand-new student cubbies! Before the old space was covered up, our students got to leave their mark by writing special messages on the walls for future generations to find.

Safe to say, they had a total blast being a part of school history! 💙 Whatcha think future students will say when they find them years from now? 💭
