On Thursday October 8th at 19:49, CSFC was requested mutual aid to Garrison for a confirmed structure fire on Old Albany Post Road. 13-2-1 responded with a full crew of interior fire fighters. CSFC assisted with fire suppression and over haul of the barn that caught fire. CSFC was back in service at 22:50. CSFC worked along side numerous Putnam and Dutchess county agencies to bring the fire under control and protect any exposures from catching fire.

On October 10th, CSFC was dispatched at 2:52 to an injured hiker on the undercliff trail. CSFC working along side North Highlands Fire Department, NYS parks staff, and Phillipstown Ambulance Corp entered the woods in Nelsonville to connect to the undercliff trail. We drove our ATV (13-8-2) as far up the trail as we could before hiking the rest of the way to the patient. Rescuers packaged the patient in a stokes basket and walked out of the woods onto a property on half moon ridge. CSFC and all units returned to service at 4:15.

This is turning out to be a busy hiking season so far. so we are once again urging the public to use caution and come prepared when using these trails. The more prepared and planned out your trip is the less likely you will need us to come rescue you. Mountain rescues are very time consuming incidents that at times require a large amount of resources.

On Saturday October 3rd. CSFC responded to an injured hiker in the Hudson Highlands state park. This is the view from the Cold Spring Fire Company base command which shows just one part of the operation that took place.

On calls like these the command serves as the coordination point for the response, helping manage communications, track crews and resources, and coordinate the efforts of the multiple agencies working together on the incident.

Cold Spring Fire Company worked alongside North Highlands Fire Department, Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the New York State Parks Department to provide assistance to a hiker in need. Crews continued working into the evening and until dark to ensure the patient received the care and assistance needed and was safely brought out.

Calls like this require communication, coordination, and teamwork across agencies. We appreciate the mutual aid and cooperation of everyone who worked together on this response.

As fall weather is now upon us and leaf peeping season has begun, we would like to remind everyone who wishes to use these trails to plan accordingly. Wearing the correct attire and knowing the route you wish to use will greatly reduce the need for our services. Mountain rescues can be extremely time consuming and dangerous to both the patient and rescuers entering the woods.

Labor Day Weekend marked the start of a busy fall hiking season for the Cold Spring Fire Company and its Mountain Rescue Team.
Over the holiday weekend, the team responded to two major calls—one for a Sick Person requiring ALS (Advanced Life Support) and another involving Traumatic Injuries requiring ALS. Both rescues were successful and serve as an important reminder to our community and visitors who enjoy our spectacular access to hiking and the great outdoors: always be prepared when setting out on a hike.
While we hope you never need us, you can be assured that if the unfortunate does occur while you are out on our trails, the Cold Spring Fire Company will be there to help, working alongside our mutual aid partners at the Philipstown Ambulance Corps, North Highlands Fire Department, and NY State Park Staff.

This year, the Cold Spring Fire Company awarded the second George Stevenson Scholarship for Arts and Service to Haldane graduate, Sofia Kelly. Sofia has found joy and appreciation in creating connection through her music, and she will continue her singing career at the the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music where she will pursue a Bachelors of Music degree in Voice Performance. Both music and community service have had a profound impact on her life.

We are honored to have the opportunity to provide this scholarship over 10 years in the name of fire company member, George Stevenson. The gift of his artwork allowed the company to raise over $10K, which will be awarded to a graduating Haldane senior who embodies the values that the CSFC No. 1 represents – volunteerism, leadership, community service, and protection and care for our neighbors – and who plans to study art in college. We celebrate the impact art has had on George’s recovery, and the impact George has had on the Cold Spring community.

On Tuesday evening, members of the Cold Spring Fire Company and North Highlands Fire District came together for a mutual aid engine operations drill at Dockside Park.
The training focused on drafting operations using the park's dry hydrant, establishing a water supply to the engine, hose line advancement, and deck gun operations. Drills like these strengthen the teamwork and coordination that are essential when neighboring departments respond together on emergency incidents.
We are very fortunate to serve our community and have the opportunity to train in such a picturesque setting along the Hudson River.

Yesterday, June 19th, at 12:56 CSFC was requested mutual aid for a possible structure fire at the Cold Spring Mobile home park. First arriving unit Battalion 19 confirmed a working structure fire with extension into a second mobile home. 13-2-1 was en route within minutes of the original dispatch and arrived on scene as the first due engine. 13-1-1(Chief Steltz) and 13-9-7(LT Etta) immediately pulled 2 hand lines off of 13-2-1 and began fire suppression knocking down the bulk of the fire before it could cause more damage to neighboring trailers. 13-2-1 crew conducted searches of the two neighboring trailers ensuring that everyone was out. One kitten was rescued by 13-1-1(Chief Steltz) as he arrived on scene. CSFC was on scene with numerous Putnam and Dutchess County Fire Departments providing mutual aid for the North Highlands Fire Department. There were no injuries of first responders or residents. Great work to all agencies involved.
