Tyre Lodge 18 - Coldwater Masonic Temple Welcome to The Coldwater Masonic Temple, Coldwater, Michigan 49036

Located on the site of the first homestead in the area, the Coldwater Masonic Temple is one of the oldest buildings in the City of Coldwater. Originally built as an art gallery by Henry Clay Lewis in 1868, it was purchased by the YMCA in 1889 and again by Tyre Lodge #18 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #1 in 1913 for masonic activities. The Masonic Temple is currenty home to Tyre Lodge #18 F & AM, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #1 - (Oldest in the World), Friends of the Lewis Art Gallery (F.L.A.G.), and the following special events: Haunted Temple Spook-house, chicken grills, 1st friday swiss-steak dinner and TubaChristmas. The building has a banquet hall and kitchen available to rent for weddings, receptions, parties, and special events throughout the year.

Postcard of the Masonic Temple in Coldwater, MI postmarked in 1920. Original parts of this building were constructed as early as 1869 to house an area businessman's vast art collection. The Y.M.C.A. was located there starting in 1896 until the local Masonic bodies of the Coldwater area took it over in 1913 where they have been meeting ever since, including the oldest continuous OES Chapter in the United States.
