Station 5 A-Shift has stayed busy with training!
Here’s a look at our recent training focused on Hydrant Operations, Primary Search, and Mayday Training!
Hydrant Operations: Focused on catching a hydrant, wrapping the hydrant, securing a large-diameter hose/gate valves, coordinating hand signals with the engine operator, and establishing a steady water supply to the engine.
Primary Search: A rapid operation conducted to locate and rescue surviving victims before or during a fire suppression. Worked on search patterns, team coordination/communication, door control/hazard awareness, and victim removal drills.
Mayday Training: Mayday is an emergency call transmitted by a firefighter to other personnel on the scene that their life is in immediate danger and needs assistance. We worked on calling out a Mayday and receiving a Mayday call. Recognition, Communication, Survival & Air Management, and Self-Rescue/RIT Coordination were other areas that were focused on.
