COLLINSVILLE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

What a great night in Collinsville!

This year’s National Night Out was a huge success, and we were excited to see such a large turnout from our community. We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out, spent the evening with us, and showed their support for the Collinsville Police Department.

A special thank you to Grayson County Sheriff Tony Bennie, Collinsville Police Chief Jon Cheshire, and Mayor Chase Guidera for taking the time to speak to the crowd and be part of the evening.

National Night Out is about more than just an event. It is about bringing law enforcement and our community together, strengthening relationships, and giving our citizens an opportunity to get to know the people who serve them.

One of the best parts of the evening was seeing so many kids having fun, collecting police stickers, checking out the equipment, and getting a chance to meet Collinsville PD K-9 Fido! 🐾🚔

We are also incredibly grateful to those who made donations to support the Collinsville Police Department K-9 Program. Your generosity helps us continue a program that serves not only Collinsville, but also assists our surrounding law enforcement partners when needed.

Most importantly, thank you to our citizens. The support our department receives from this community means a great deal to us. We are proud to serve Collinsville and proud of the relationship we continue to build with the people who call it home.

Thank you for making National Night Out 2026 one to remember!

SUPPORT THE COLLINSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT K-9 PROGRAM

The Collinsville Police Department remains committed to reducing crime and keeping our communities safe. Our K-9 Unit has become an important part of that mission by helping officers detect and deter illegal drug activity.

Since implementing our K-9 Program, we have seen the positive impact that proactive drug enforcement can have on our community. Reducing drug related activity can also help reduce the thefts, burglaries, assaults, and other crimes that are often associated with it.

The impact of our K-9 Unit also extends beyond the Collinsville city limits. When requested, our K-9 Unit assists surrounding law enforcement agencies, providing an additional resource to officers and communities throughout our area.

We welcome support from individuals, businesses, corporations, and organizations anywhere who would like to support our mission. Donations allow us to continue investing in K-9 training, equipment, veterinary care, and the future development of the CPD K-9 Program.

K9 FIDO STRIKES BACK

Last night, Collinsville Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop and deployed K9 Fido for an air sniff.

After Fido alerted to the presence of narcotics, officers conducted a search and located methamphetamine. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest.

Our K9 Unit is officially back in service and Fido is ready to get back to doing what he does best.

CPD K9 UNIT IS BACK IN SERVICE

Officer Paul Marrufo was recently assigned as the Collinsville Police Department’s new K9 Handler for K9 Fido. Following his assignment, Officer Marrufo and Fido completed a two week K9 handler training course for narcotics detection through Pacesetter K9. At the conclusion of their training, the team successfully passed the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) certification and are now a certified K9 team.

Fido has proudly served the Collinsville Police Department since 2020. The K9 Unit was temporarily placed on hold when Fido’s previous handler was promoted to Chief of Police. With Officer Marrufo’s assignment, training, and certification complete, the CPD K9 Unit is officially back in service.

Officer Marrufo has demonstrated a strong, proactive work ethic and is motivated to target illegal narcotics in our community. Officer Marrufo and K9 Fido are ready to continue that mission together.

Over the years, our K9 Unit has assisted in numerous narcotics investigations, both here in Collinsville and throughout the surrounding area. When requested, our K9 team also assists neighboring law enforcement agencies. We believe strongly in helping our neighbors because drugs and criminal activity do not stop at city limits.

Since establishing our K9 Unit, we have seen a significant decrease in criminal activity in our community, and we remain committed to keeping that momentum going.

Our K9 Unit is often supported through donations from our community, which help cover veterinary expenses, training, equipment, and the care of our K9. If you would like to help keep the program strong, contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and directly support the continued operation of the CPD K9 Unit.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Marrufo and K9 Fido on their new partnership and welcoming the Collinsville PD K9 Unit back into service!
