Across the country, rising diesel prices are harming millions of families and their communities. Local farmers are feeling the effects most acutely as they work to bring in their crops this fall. That’s why we’re providing emergency relief to farmers by allowing them to use the more cost-effective red-dye diesel on highways, not just on their property. Alongside House Democrats, I'll keep looking for ways to support farmers and protect consumers from unfair prices.

On Friday, I was honored to join SIUE along with state and federal partners in celebrating a $17 million investment in the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center!

NCERC helps turn agricultural research into new products and opportunities for Illinois farmers. This expansion will give the facility room to take on more projects while providing students and workers with valuable hands-on training. I’m elated to see SIUE continue this great work!

On Monday, I was glad to join Governor JB Pritzker, Phillips 66, United Airlines, and other community and industry partners at the Wood River Refinery to showcase the facility’s role in expanding sustainable aviation fuel in Illinois.

It was great to see the Metro East playing an important role in a project like this, while continuing to support good jobs and investment right here in our region.

Our first responders deserve the equipment they need to keep themselves and our communities safe. Applications are now open for the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s FY27 Small Equipment Grant Program, with $6 million available statewide!

Eligible fire departments, fire protection districts, and not-for-profit ambulance services can apply for up to $50,000 to purchase firefighting and emergency medical equipment.
