On today’s episode of Felony Friday, we go back to Friday, 10/09/2026. At approximately 10:30 AM, a Colma Officer was driving near the intersection of Mission Street and Price Street in Daly City when they observed a male bicyclist riding against traffic. The male was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Mission Street. Upon seeing the officer, the male got off the bicycle and walked eastbound across Mission Street.

The Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and contacted the male in the 7200 block of Mission Street. The Officer explained the reason for the traffic stop and asked the male for his name, which he verbally provided. The male then started walking away from the officer. The officer ordered the male to stop, but the male continued walking away and walked westbound across Mission Street away from the Officer.

The officers got into his patrol vehicle and followed the male, continuously giving orders to the male to stop. The male got back on his bicycle and started riding it southbound on Mission Street, failing to yield. The male then ran into a business at 7338 Mission Street, with the officer in pursuit. At the rear of the business, the male turned towards the officer and kicked him in the stomach.
With the help of arriving officers, the male was detained without further incident. It was determined the male gave a false name to officers. A records check of his true name revealed he had a no-bail, felony warrant for his arrest from a neighboring agency.

The 43-year-old Redwood City resident was arrested for obstructing/resisting a peace officer using force, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, giving false identification to a peace officer and his felony warrant. He was transported and booked into the San Mateo County jail.

On today’s Misdemeanor Monday, we go back to Saturday, 09/26/2026. At approximately 2:59 PM, a Colma Officer was driving southbound on Hillside Boulevard approaching the intersection of Lawndale Boulevard, when he observed a red, Kawasaki motorcycle, commit a vehicle violation. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the motorcycle, but the motorcycle did not yield and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was canceled after the driver of the motorcycle drove with willful and wanton disregard for public safety, using the bike lane to pass vehicles at a high rate of speed.

The Officer was able to identify the motorcycle driver after the pursuit and obtained a vehicle seizure order for the motorcycle. On Tuesday, 10/06/2026 at approximately 5:00 AM, Colma Officers located the motorcycle in the Greek Orthodox Memorial Cemetery, located at 1148 El Camino Real, Colma, after being advised of a suspicious subject on a red motorcycle loitering in the area. Officers located the male driver nearby and detained him.

The 23-year-old South San Francisco resident was arrested for fleeing and eluding a police officer. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail; the motorcycle was impounded pursuant to the seizure order.

We are heartbroken to learn of the death of California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Liles, who tragically lost his life while on duty yesterday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the California Highway Patrol during this difficult time.

It is with profound sadness that the California Highway Patrol announces the line-of-duty death of Officer Brian Liles of the Visalia Area.

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:11 p.m., CHP Motorcycle Officer Liles was involved in an on-duty traffic crash on State Route 99, just north of State Route 190 in Tipton. He sustained critical injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
