The City of Colonial Heights Department of Human Resources (HR) works under the direction of the City Manager, providing services and programs to all departments and the city’s workforce of approximately 245 full-time and various part-time / seasonal staff. Responsibilities of the Human Resources Department include:

• Recruiting and developing the best available employee for each position in the classified service of the city.

• Maintaining a human resources management program that includes on-going analysis of employee classification and compensation, comprehensive benefits, employment policy development and interpretation, training and development, workers’ compensation, employee relations, and records management.

• Providing general support to various departments and employees as to the processing of disciplinary actions and grievance procedures. We reserve the right to remove 3rd party advertisements and spam.

We are hiring for a Director of Finance!

Hiring Range: $115,000 - $140,000; Negotiable (Anticipate hiring above the pay range minimum).

** Open Until Filled. First review of applications to begin no later than October 2, 2026. **

- This position directs, manages, & oversees the staff & the functions of the Finance Department, to include Accounting, Payroll, Purchasing, Risk Management, Utility Billing, Real Estate Assessment, & Billing & Collections.

- Assists the City Manager with the development & implementation of financial matters, including budget preparations & controls, financial reports & statement preparations, & strategic planning; serves as an advisor to the City Manager & Department Directors.
