October is AAC Awareness Month! 💬❤️

Our elementary Life Skills team, in consultation with our school psychology intern, created an AAC wall to give students more ways to communicate!

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication and includes tools that support or supplement spoken language. Our wall pairs pictures, signs, and voice-output buttons to help students express feelings, make choices, ask for help, and share their needs throughout the school day.

From “I feel” to “I want” and “all done,” these words create opportunities for connection, independence, and self-advocacy. Every student deserves access to communication, and to have their message heard. ❤️

Thank you to our Life Skills team for the creativity, teamwork, and care you put into supporting our students!
