This is a great time to be thinking Firewise defensible spaces around your home. With the lack of rain and snow this year we all need to take a minute to look at the "what if factor". If a wildland fire was pushing towards your home, how close could it get? Firewise suggests 30 feet around your home to create a defensible standoff distance. Stay Safe and Be Ready... Our USAFA Safety Team did an outstanding job putting out this "Risk Alert" as well.

Good News Story: Tuesday Feb 17th the 10th ABW Command Chief Herrera stopped by fire station #2 to present SrA Jackson Brock with the 2026 NCOA Vanguard Award for a life saved... On Nov 19th, 2025, at the base gym a person was found needing CPR. SrA Brock took immediate actions including notifying 911, directing 2 person CPR and delivering shocks from an onsite AED. The patient left in an ambulance in stable condition. We here at USAFA F&ES are all very proud of SrA Brock's lifesaving interventions. Well Done! SrA Brock's package will also compete at the Air Force level going forward...
