Garrison chose to challenge himself, pursue difficult opportunities and follow a different path from many of his peers back home. He also hopes to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a pilot. His father, Lt. Col. Gerremy Goldsberry, Class of 2001, now flies F-35s in the Air Force Reserve and is scheduled to conduct the flyover for tomorrow's Air Force vs. UNLV football game. For Garrison, it's a meaningful connection between the example his father set and the path he hopes to forge through his own service.
A History major, Garrison is drawn to aviation for the teamwork, shared accomplishments and opportunity to serve alongside others in a squadron.
Experiences that helped shape his development include:
๐ช ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐น๐๐ฒ: Served as a jumpmaster, instructor and senior enlisted leader for Airmanship 490, helping lead more than 160 cadets through jump training, with more than 120 earning jump wings. The experience reinforced the importance of preparation.
๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐: Led weekly discussions with 15โ25 cadets for three years, developing a deeper understanding of how to support others in their spiritual growth.
๐บ๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฆ๐พ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ: Led more than 100 cadets in their academic, military and athletic development, emphasizing teamwork, resilience and accountability.
Through hard work and a willingness to seek guidance, Garrison has pursued opportunities ranging from traveling to Poland with the History Department to parachuting into professional sports stadiums.
