On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the man convicted for the murder of 54-year-old Haleh Abghari, a professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, was sentenced to 224 years in the Department of Corrections.

Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has completed its review of the officer-involved shooting that occurred on November 13, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301 peace officer-involved shooting investigations protocol, all officer-involved shootings that result in injury or death shall by reviewed by a multi-agency team: A Deadly Force Investigation Team.
