I’m going to miss you Ken Brickman. You were always there, always positive and always a good friend. It’s been too long since you moved away, but even over these past years, it has been a pleasure to hear your constant words of wisdom. Until we meet again, cheers buddy! 🍻

Thrilled to see this happening! It’s like our little mobile parklet and then our EPIcentral parklet evolved into a mega parklet at a time needed the most!
Thank you to all who helped make this happen!

We have a couple opportunities to get involved this summer in the name of placemaking. This is one of them. Stay tuned for more information as we continue to iron out the details.

Stompin' Groundz is excited for the outdoor improvements that will be happening at Mission Trace in tandem with the build out of the coffee shop and cowork space. Final plans are in the works but here are some of the ideas for out front.

What do you think?

Velez’s Pig Latin keeps on truckin’ 09/02/2016

We're proud of Andres and the Piglatin Food Truck. During our brief tenure of operating Curbside, 2013, they were our anchor. A food truck business that understood the value of place making and how mutually beneficial it was to all. http://www.csbj.com/2016/09/02/velezs-pig-latin-keeps-on-truckin/?utm_content=bufferf64b2&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Colorado Springs Urban Intervention wants to help you!

Colorado Springs Urban Intervention (CSUI), your local outpost of tactical urbanism and creator of community-building projects including Better Block Pikes Peak, Curbside Cuisine, and the downtown parklet, is offering grants and assistance to help you test new urban ideas in Colorado Springs. We are accepting grant applications right now, and here’s what it takes:

1. Write up a brief description of your intended project. Please keep it brief (1-2 pages is ideal) and to the point. This is your main chance to describe the project and make your case. Focus on the following:
* What urban placemaking idea is your project testing?
* How will your project build capacity/ understanding/ community for more permanent change?
* Who will benefit from the project? How will you make this useful for all facets of our community?

2. Create a rough budget for the project. We’d like to see how much the project will cost, a breakdown of expenses, additional sources of funds, and how the CSUI grant will fit in with other funding.

3. Create an implementation plan for your project. We want to see that your project is realistic. The types of information we’d like to see here include a cradle-to-grave schedule for the project, your plan for coordination with the city and other entities as necessary, a plan for how much volunteer support you’ll require and how you plan on obtaining it. Please also indicate if you’re planning on help from CSUI with design, coordination, or anything else.

That’s it. Please send these three simple elements to CSUI at [email protected]. We will accept applications until noon, August 22nd. CSUI will offer up to 3 grants of up to $2,000 each, and will notify grant awardees as soon as a decision is made after applications are awarded. We are planning a party in early September to publicly announce the winners and generate energy around the new projects.

We’re so excited to see your ideas! If you need inspiration, please get in touch with us at the email address above, or check out the following resources:
