At Second Home Adult Day Center, we believe that needing a little extra support should never mean giving up your independence.

That’s why we provide a variety of adaptive tools and equipment designed to help our clients participate in everyday activities as independently and confidently as possible.

🥤 Adaptive straws and drinking aids

These simple tools can make a BIG difference for individuals experiencing limitations related to Parkinson’s disease, stroke recovery, arthritis, decreased grip strength, limited mobility, and other physical challenges.

At Second Home, our goal isn’t to automatically do something for someone when we can first find a way to help them do it for themselves.

Every meal eaten independently, every button fastened, every item reached, and every task completed can help rebuild confidence, dignity, independence, and self-esteem. 💜

💜 Alzheimer’s Awareness — Understanding Makes a Difference 💜

Alzheimer’s disease affects more than memory. It can change the way a person communicates, processes information, recognizes their surroundings, and completes everyday activities.

At Second Home, we believe awareness is an important part of building a more understanding and compassionate community. Learning the warning signs and understanding the challenges someone may experience can help all of us respond with a little more patience, kindness, dignity, and respect.

Behind every diagnosis is still a person—with a lifetime of memories, experiences, relationships, and a need to feel valued and included. 💚

Take a moment to review the information below and help us continue spreading awareness. Sometimes understanding why someone is struggling is the first step toward knowing how to better support them.

The countdown is on! We’re getting ready for our Chili Cook-Off this Thursday, and we can’t wait to see what delicious recipes our participants bring to the table! 😋

🍲 PARTICIPANTS — ALL YOU NEED TO BRING IS YOUR RECIPE!

Second Home will provide the ingredients, and our team will be here to assist participants with preparing their chili on Wednesday so everything is ready for Thursday’s big cook-off!

What makes Second Home special? Our days are about so much more than simply having somewhere to go — they’re about learning, participating, creating, and having FUN! 💜💚

Our cooking classes are for EVERYONE! Whether we’re mixing, measuring, stirring, decorating, learning a new recipe, or simply enjoying the finished product, there’s a place for everyone to participate at their own ability level.

Cooking gives our clients an opportunity to practice everyday life skills, make choices, work together, build confidence, and experience that wonderful feeling of saying, “I made that!” 👏❤️

And of course… taste-testing might just be our favorite part! 😋

Our Spring Bunny Egg Party at Second Home was filled with laughter, friendship, colorful eggs, sweet treats, and plenty of springtime fun. Seeing our clients laugh, celebrate, and enjoy these special moments together is exactly what Second Home is all about. 💚💜
