Meet the 2026 Winter Encampment Cadet Advanced Training Group Commander (CoLA)!

"I am C/Col Amaan Oliyath from St. Paul Composite Squadron in Minnesota Wing. At the 2026 Colorado Leadership Academy, I will challenge cadets to go beyond knowing what leadership is and prove that they can lead when it actually matters. I believe the strongest leaders are built through experience, meaningful challenges, and the willingness to learn from both success and failure. If you're eligible to attend CoLA, put yourself out there, take the opportunity, and prove what you're capable of."

Meet the 2026 Winter Encampment Cadet Training Group Deputy Commander!

"I am C/Lt Col Ethan Clem, and I have served in the Colorado Wing for five years, developing a leadership philosophy grounded in servant leadership, accountability, and a deep commitment to others' growth and development. I believe leaders must first serve their people by providing the support, direction, and feedback necessary to succeed, and I expect every cadet and staff member to match that commitment by giving their full effort, pursuing continuous improvement, and taking ownership of their development and contributions to the mission."

Meet your 2026 Winter Encampment Cadet Mission Support Group Commander!

"I am C/Maj. Natasha Viele from Merit Academy Cadet Squadron. My goal for this Encampment is that we create an environment that promotes problem-solving and leadership development. I believe leaders should create an environment of mutual trust. The team trusts the leader to follow through on obligations and transmit the team's needs up the chain of command. The leader trusts the team to accomplish the mission and communicate problems. I want everyone, staff and student, to leave encampment with a good experience and a new trust in their own abilities."

July Mitchell Award Promotions!

Earning the General Billy Mitchell Award is a huge milestone that officially crosses a cadet over into the officer ranks of Civil Air Patrol. Itโ€™s a demanding hurdle that only about 15% of cadets nationwide manage to clear.

To get here, individuals have to prove their dedication by passing dual comprehensive exams in leadership and aerospace, alongside completing a weeklong encampment. This achievement promotes them to Cadet Second Lieutenant, shifting their role from learning the basics to actively leading and developing junior personnel.

Please join us in congratulating these cadets for earning the rank of officer!

July Wright Brothers Award Cadets!

Earning the Wright Brothers Award is a huge step for a Civil Air Patrol cadet, it officially completes Phase I and welcomes them into the NCO ranks! To earn this achievement, cadets demonstrate their dedication to the program and successfully complete their first closed-book leadership exam.

This milestone promotes them to Cadet Staff Sergeant, marking an exciting transition from learning the fundamentals of cadet life to becoming young servant-leaders who can help mentor, guide, and train newer cadets.

๐Ÿ‘ Let's welcome these cadets to the NCO Corps! Congratulations on reaching this important milestone in your CAP journey!

July Curry Achievement Cadets!

Earning the Curry Achievement is a big moment for a Civil Air Patrol cadet, it marks their very first official promotion in the program!
To earn this achievement, new cadets complete their first leadership chapter and demonstrate their commitment to physical fitness. Once they successfully complete these requirements, they are promoted to Cadet Airman, officially beginning their journey through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.

This first promotion is more than a new rank on a uniform. It represents a cadet taking those first steps toward developing leadership skills, building confidence, and challenging themselves through new experiences, including opportunities to participate in wing activities and summer encampment.

๐Ÿ‘ Let's hear it for all of our Curry Achievement Cadets!

Congratulations on this important first step in your CAP journey, we can't wait to see where it takes you!

Congratulations to each of the Colorado Wing squadrons who met the required criteria to receive the Quality Cadet Unit Award for 2026!

It is no small thing for one squadron to achieve this award, much less twelve! The QCUA recognizes squadrons who are prioritizing elements that inevitably lead to a robust cadet program, such as aerospace and STEM activities, community engagement, cadet achievement, encampment participation, and even the training of adult leaders.

So give it up for the cadets and senior members who have worked tirelessly to exhibit such excellence! This is a fantastic accomplishment and a testament to their commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.
